The Importance of Turning Your Water Off When Leaving for Vacation

When planning to be away from home for a while, be sure to turn your water off when you leave so you do not come home to a disaster! This is because if you are going to have a leaking supply line then more than likely it will happen when you are away. In New Kensington, PA and surrounding areas we have seen people go into the hospital and come home to a complete disaster in their home.

Closing the valve on the main supply line cuts off water to the house but still allows outside sprinklers to work. In this instance if you do spring a leak inside the line will be under some initial pressure, however, it will not continue to spray water. Therefor instead or thousands of gallons of water in your home if you hot water tank goes you will only have fifty thousand gallons or less.

This small thing can take you as little as 2 minutes as long as you know where your main water shut off is. However, it can save you potentially thousands of dollars.
