Why you should inspect your roof after a hail or high wind storm.
If you have lived in western Pennsyvania, and maybe Penn Hills or surrounding areas, you know that spring showers bringing flowers may also bring damage to your house! After a high wind or hail storm it is a good practice to inspect your roof for missing or damaged shingles. The roof over your head is more than just a hat for your house, it is the shelter and safety of your family. If your roof is bad it does not just effect the physical aspect of your house but also can compromise the structure.
It is in your best interest to maintain the structure of your house. This is why after a rough storm in particular you need to be sure to have your roof inspected. However, if it is a hail storm you should have your roof inspected each time. This is because even if the storm was short lived the size of the hail is typically why it is mostly damaged.
It is also very important to get your roof checked if there has been a lot of storm activity. This is particularly important because you could be looking at cumulative damage that has gotten worse after each storm as opposed to damage from a single storm alone.
When deciding whether or not it is worth it you need to think of these important factors, preserving your investment, safety of your house and family, and cost. If you wait too long all of these factors will be at risk because your roof will be too far gone.
